Muse Aliases

An alias lets the same muse use a different display name (and optional avatar) in a specific channel or thread, without changing the muse’s trigger or main card.

When to use aliases

  • Same character, different identity (social media profile)
  • Spoiler channels where the muse should appear under a codename
  • NPCs that share one muse slot but need distinct faces per location

For channel aliases, the muse’s main trigger stays the same. Only the webhook name and avatar on posts change where the alias applies.

Auto-proxy uses the same display rules: if auto is posting as this muse in a channel with an alias, messages show under the alias name and image, not the muse’s default card.

Alias triggers (optional)

In Muse Studio you can give a display alias its own optional trigger. Posting with that trigger uses the alias name and avatar for that message, without running /muse alias in the channel first.

If auto is already on in that channel or thread, the alias trigger also switches Auto to this muse and binds the alias here — later unprefixed posts use that face. If Auto is off, the alias trigger stays one message only.

Good fits:

  • NPCs tied to a main muse (guards, messengers) without creating a full second muse
  • A familiar or side face you only need occasionally

Suggest can number triggers from the parent muse (NPC: → NPC1:, NPC2:, …), or type any unique trigger you want. Triggers are case-sensitive and longest-match wins when prefixes overlap.

Server staff who need shared disposable faces for the whole guild should prefer Narrator instead of personal alias triggers.

Set an alias — /muse alias

Run in the channel or thread where you want the alias active.

  • muse — Which muse (autocomplete).
  • alias_name — Name shown on posts here. Leave blank to clear the alias for this location.
  • alias_image — Optional image file for this alias (upload on the command).

Examples:

  • In #north-court, run /muse alias muse:Seren alias_name:The Stranger — Seren’s posts in that channel show as The Stranger.
  • Clear with /muse alias muse:Seren (no alias name).

See which aliases are active

On a post: right-click the message → Apps → Multimuse Info (or react with ❓). The info includes an Aliased field: Yes with the name and where it comes from (this channel, this thread, parent channel, or server default), or No.

In this server: /muse aliases list shows every channel and server-default alias on your muses. Pass muse: to filter to one character. Threads inherit a parent channel alias unless you set one on the thread.

/muse aliases manage is the interactive list of saved faces for one muse (add / set here / set server / delete).

Inheritance (channels vs threads)

  • Alias set in a text channel applies to that channel and threads inside it, unless a thread has its own alias.
  • Alias set in a thread applies only to that thread.
  • Clearing an alias in a thread can mean “use the parent channel’s alias again” or “use the muse’s default name”—the bot tells you which in the confirmation messag
